I am already the third woodcrafter generation making genuine Ribnica woodenware. We are known as masters for making wooden cutting boards and other custom wooden items. Our longest tradition is in making sieves of different sizes which is still my father’s business. For a good sieve rim, he taught me, we need a nice spruce or fir and wood without knots that can be nicely split. He used to choose the right trees by himself … They had to grow in shelter so that their trunk wasn’t curved, and they had to have deep roots. A rim has to be made of fresh wood as the dry one breaks, and there shouldn’t be any resin in it … Following my father’s example, I developed a few smaller sieves that are mostly intended for spreading powdered sugar or cocoa on desserts. Additionally, I developed a handy folding table that can create comfort on a balcony or on a trip to nature.
