Matej Trhljen
For many generations, the family Trhljen from Zamostec at Sodražica have been fostering love and respect for the local environment – the extensive forest that surrounds us, and the wood that it gives to us. We have preserved the vivid heritage of making and selling useful wooden items for home. The family woodcraft tradition began with our grandfather Ivan who was master in making wooden pails. His son Janez widened the business with other wooden items and started peddling around villages and at various fairs. His sons Matej and Jan are now ready to step into his shoes and keep pace with the times. We gladly follow the needs of the market, with custom as well as wholesale items. We seek new opportunities to reach customers with moving our selling online.
Although I am personally dedicated to selling, I couldn’t be without our workshop … End even though a lot of work is done by machines, we finish each item by hand in the last phase and give it that flair that brings warmth and beauty of the wood in our customers’ homes.
